July Residency at Armoury in Denver

So I'll be doing a residency at a pub called the Armoury in Denver, CO on Wednesday nights in July!  It's called the Greg Garrison Trio +1 "You Pick 'Em".  The other guys in the trio are guitarist extrordinaire (and master of the French Lick) Dave Devine, and my favorite drummer and photographer Marc Dalio.

The "+1" will be a notable locally-based touring musician who will join us for the evening.  So far,

July 3rd is Jeff Austin from YMSB

July 10 is Andy Hall from the Infamous Stringdusters

July 17 is Andy Thorn from Leftover Salmon

July 24 TBA

July 31 TBA

The "You Pick 'Em" part is all about fan/audience participation- the repertoire for each show will be made up of covers from a band or artist that YOU get to pick!!!  Please submit your ideas in the comments section below, or on the event page here

I'm doing this in order to play with some of my friends that I only ever get to see out on the road- at festivals, random shows, etc.  I'm also excited to play with Dave and Marc, and hopefully create a nice body of trio material.

More on this to come!!

Independents Day Interview

My old musical compadre Joe Armstrong caught me for an interview in LA last month- check it out here!

Improvised Roots #4 March 15/16 2013!

This time around I'll be hosting Darol Anger on fiddle, Joel Harrison on guitar, and Art Lande on piano- these could very well be the most open ended, interactive and freely improvised shows yet! Darol is one of the most influential fiddle players alive today, having played with the original David Grisman Quintet as well as everyone else in the acoustic music realm. Joel is an incredible NYC based guitarist/composer whom I discovered through his "Free Country" recordings, which featured beautiful and intelligent reharmonizations and arrangements of traditional American tunes. Art Lande is one of the most important musicians living in Colorado, period. If you've never heard him play the piano, you need to. He is one of the most open and creative musicians on the planet, and I'm thrilled to have him as a part of this ensemble for two nights!  See the Improvised Roots page for more information, and check out the great videos from Art, Joel and Darol in the sidebar!
